National Depression Screening Day (NDSD) educates military personnel and their families about signs and symptoms of depression, PTSD, generalized anxiety disorder and bipolar disorder through anonymous online self-assessments. The primary goals of the program are to reduce stigma and increase help-seeking.
"As someone who struggled with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), I have been traveling across the United States sharing my personal experience with veterans and active duty service members. In my discussions, I not only encourage them to speak with loved ones about their struggles, but direct them to resources such as the Military Pathways Program. This program offers service members, veterans and their families the opportunity to take free, anonymous online self-assessments in the privacy of their homes." -- Samuel Marvin Rhodes Sr., retired Command Sgt. Maj.
